While deciding on what coffee shop to read today’s RSS feeds, a few questions came to mind that seems to make one coffee shop stand out more than others. Wi-Fi (of course), Good Coffee, and Outlets. Of course, this is subjective, and I know for a fact that my daily morning coffee pick-up only includes the “Good Coffee” part and stop at my local coffee roster, Luna Cafe.

Since August 2000, Luna Coffee and its owners, Angela and Mark Patel, have been serving fresh-roasted coffee in De Pere, Wisconsin. Our cafe’, once a turn-of-the-century horse harness maker’s shop, offers a cozy atmosphere that celebrates both the history of our building, with hardwood floors and exposed brick walls, and the vibrant arts scene of today, as we display artwork of some of the area’s best photographers, painters, and other artists. -lunacafe.com

Among other coffee shops in the Green Bay area are, Karvana, The Daily Buzz, Crystal Coffee Cafe, Starbucks (of course, they’re everywhere), Caffe’ Espresso, Lox Stock & Bagel and many more. But when I am in other cities, I have been making myself aware of what I look for and it is Free Wi-Fi, Good tasting coffee and plenty of power outlets for all.

I feel bad saying this, but there is rarely that I don’t visit a coffee house without my MacBook Pro. There used to be a day that I could just take a book and spend the day reading, but those days have slowly dwindled down to only a few.
Feel free to leave your own reason as to what you look for in a coffee house.

I’m really not one to pass on forwards that I receive in my inbox, but this one hold a few truths. Take is for what it is.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:

    1. No matter how hard you try, you can’t baptize cats..
    2. When your Mum is mad at your Dad, don’t let her brush your hair.
    3. If your sister hits you, don’t hit her back. They always catch the second person.
    4. Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
    5. You can’t trust dogs to watch your food.
    6. Don’t sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
    7. Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
    8. You can’t hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
    9. Don’t wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
    10. The best place to be when you’re sad is Grandpa’s lap.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

    1. Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
    2. Wrinkles don’t hurt.
    3. Families are like fudge…mostly sweet, with a few nuts
    4. Today’s mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut that held its ground..
    5. Laughing is good exercise. It’s like jogging on the inside.
    6. Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy.

    GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD

    1. Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.
    2. Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.
    3. When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you’re down there.
    4. You’re getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.
    5. It’s frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions.
    6. Time may be a great healer, but it’s a lousy beautician
    7. Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

    THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:

    1. You believe in Santa Claus.
    2. You don’t believe in Santa Claus.
    3. You are Santa Claus.
    4. You look like Santa Claus.

    SUCCESS:

    1. At age 4 success is . . . not piddling in your pants.
    2. At age 12 success is . . . having friends.
    3. At age 17 success is . . .having a driver’s license.
    4. At age 35 success is . . . .having money.
    5. At age 50 success is . . . having money.
    6. At age 70 success is . . . having a drivers license.
    7. At age 75 success is . . . having friends.
    8. At age 80 success is . . . not piddling in your pants.

Of all of these, “Today’s mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut that held its ground.” is the one that sticks out at me the most. Think about any creative idea, business leader that the public was “nuts”, or even the guy that thought that dancing bears would help sell Pepsi, he stood his ground and defended why he knew that dancing bears would appeal to many and help boost the sales of Pepsi.

I am going to take a page out of David Hobby‘s book and take some time to share some links that I think are well worth the time. I will be making more an effort to do this more often, as it’s a way to share with not a lot of jibber-jabber on my part and it gets you to the good stuff faster! So here we go!

    • The Strobist Jet Pack is a great little DIY project that solves a few problems for the solo shooter out there that is always wishing that they could get that light off the camera further.
    • Have you been the victim of a lighting test-shot? If so, make sure that you check out Light-test.com. Everyone is welcome to upload your own light-test image to the community.
    • Chase Jarvis recently posted a great talk that he gave at the Art Director’s Club of Denver.
    • Joe McNally is STILL playing around with Speedlights, and as always, is creating some mind-blowing results. (Where does this guy think of these things?!)
    • ‘Reverie’ the first feature film made with the Nikon D90 is completed and in the stages of being released. Check out a teaser here. And/or check out the official web site!
    • As always, stay up-to-date with Nikon Rumors.
